Spring/Summer 2015 Programs and Activities


Community Center Weight Room
The Community Center offers an array of fitness equipment and is open seven days a week. Stop by for a tour. Day passes and memberships are available.  Fitness Room use is available to anyone 15 years of age and older.  Cost for a day pass is $6, a one month membership is $35, three month is $90, six month is $160, nine month is $225, and a year is only $260 which averages $20 per month.  We also offer fitness incentive programs for Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Health Partners.  The Silver Sneakers® Program is now available for eligible members.
   
Healthways SilverSneakers® Fitness Programs 
Classic Class Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity of daily living skills.  Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.  Class is be held Monday and Wednesday mornings from 10:30 to 11:15 am.                                                                                                                                                             Circuit Class 
Combine fun and fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper-body strength work using hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for support, head-to-toe stretching, and complete relaxation in a comfortable position. Class is held Tuesday & Thursday mornings from 9:30 to 10:15 am. 
 Yoga Stretch  SilverSneakers Yoga will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses.  Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of seated and standing postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement.  Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity.  Class is held Monday's and Wednesday's from 9:30 to 10:15 am. 
Classes are free to all SilverSneakers Members.  Not a SilverSneakers Member?  An 8 class punch card may be purchased for $28.00 or day passes are available for $4/class.

 
Silver&Fit                                                                                                                            
Crosslake Community Center is now a Silver&Fit® participating fitness facility!  Silver&Fit is designed specifically to help older Adults achieve better health through regular exercise and health education.  Silver&Fit provides eligible members with no-cost or low cost fitness memberships through arrangements with certain health plans.  Silver&Fit is provided by American Specialty Health Fitness, Inc., a subsidiary of American Specialty Heath Incorporated.

Join us for adult volleyball play Wednesday evenings at 6:15 pm.  New four week session begins April 29.  Memberships $7/for shortened session; Day passes $4.
Pickleball (Private Rentals)

Play Pickleball at the Community Center.  Court time may be reserved Tuesday's or Thursday's from 1:00-3:00 pm. Court rental is $10/hour and all equipment is provided.  Reservations are required.

 Open Pickleball                                                                                                                     Open Pickleball play is offered Tuesday evening's from 5:00-7:00 pm and Friday mornings 9:30 to 11:00 am.  Annual memberships are $20.00; Day passes are $4.00.  Come and try America's fastest growing sport!

Crosslake Walkers & Talkers                                                                                
 The Community Center gymnasium is open weekday mornings from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. for walking. Join this lively group that starts their day with exercise and fun conversation.

Mah Jongg                                                                                                                                 Join us for Mah Jongg at the Community Center each Thursday at 1:00 pm. No reservations are required and play is free. You may bring your set if you have one. New, beginner or experienced—everyone is welcome!

Chautauqua
Chautauqua is a monthly forum (May through September) whose mission is to provide a wide range of educational experiences for Crosslake area residents, guests and visitors.  Held the 2nd Wednesday of each month at the Community Center from 1:30 to 3:30 pm.  Admission is free.  Refreshments will be served. Call 692-4271 for more information on scheduled speakers.

 Community Center Announcements
Senior Nutrition Site
The Community Center is the site for the Senior Nutrition program Monday through Friday.  Lunch is served at 11:30 am.  Reservations must be made by calling 692-4271 by 4:00 pm the business day prior to your meal.  Deliveries are available to homebound individuals in the Crosslake area.  Monthly menu's are available upon request at the Community Center Office.
Youth Activities

Youth Tennis Lessons  Youth tennis lessons are scheduled for July 6th-July 23rd.  Young beginners, beginners and advanced beginners levels offered.  You may register for one, two or all three weeks.  Weekly fee is $25; register for all three weeks for $60!  Contact our office for program times and further details.  Registration forms may be found on our registration page as soon as they are available.

Paddling the Park 
Learn to Kayak in the City Park pond!  Presented by Crow Wing Kayaks and Wind, Water & Wheels this course is designed for participants 10 years of age and older.  (All children under 14 must be accompanied by a paying adult.)  Classes are one hour in length.  Fee is $15/class.  Course will be offered June 13, 27, July 11, 25, and August 8 & 22.  Advance reservations required by Friday at 12:00 pm the day prior your class.  Call 218-692-4271 for reservations.
